Gilles Soeder

I am Gilles Soeder, a celebrant and actor based in Luxembourg, specialising in secular wedding ceremonies. I work with couples who want an alternative to a religious wedding while preserving a solemn, meaningful framework for the couple and their families. I speak French, Luxembourgish, German, and English. As the director of your ceremony I act as partner and improvisor: I respond, set the rhythm of the event and adapt my performance to your personality, wishes and budget — including any touch of humour or playful character you want to share. Employing an actor allows me to embody a chosen persona while respecting the structure of a wedding. I am flexible about location and style: ceremonies can take place in a deconsecrated church, outdoors, at the reception venue or in more original stagings if you wish. I also help design and write your texts and speeches, drawing on existing writings or composing bespoke interventions. Many couples keep symbolic gestures drawn from religious rites — walking toward an “altar”, exchanging rings, speaking vows — and I can reinterpret these as mutual commitments rather than religious acts.
